SK hynix disclosed plans to buy KRW11.95 trillion of ASML extreme-ultraviolet lithography equipment by 31 December 2027, Reuters reported on 24 March 2026. The tools are intended for mass production of new products.

Cleanroom construction at Yongin

A 25 February announcement described the company's separate facility investment in Yongin, South Korea. Additional spending of KRW21.6 trillion through December 2030 brought the first fab's construction budget to approximately KRW31 trillion, including an earlier KRW9.4 trillion commitment.

The planned facility

The company explicitly excluded equipment installation costs from its construction figures. It said expanded cleanroom space and inflation were reflected in the revised investment amount.

Earlier equipment installation at M15X

In its 29 October 2025 results, the memory producer reported that equipment installation had begun at M15X after an early cleanroom opening. The same report described increased shipments of server products: deliveries of DDR5 memory with capacities of at least 128GB had more than doubled quarter-on-quarter.

The company said its sixth-generation 10-nanometre-class process was already in stable mass production. It planned to accelerate migration to that technology across server, mobile and graphics applications. These were the operational conditions described in the October report.

The supplier's sales and order figures

ASML's 28 January results recorded sales of 300 new and 27 used lithography systems during 2025. Fourth-quarter net bookings were approximately EUR13.2 billion, including EUR7.4 billion for extreme-ultraviolet systems.

The equipment maker defined bookings as system orders and inflation adjustments with accepted written authorisations. Its installed-base business generated approximately EUR8.2 billion of annual sales; that category comprised services and field options. These are historical supplier-wide figures, not order specifications.
