Allegro announced its Hungarian marketplace on 2 October 2024, after allegro.hu became available to buyers the previous day.
Shopping and existing orders
The company listed home delivery, parcel lockers and collection points among the delivery options. Mall.hu was becoming a store on the new platform; existing customers would retain access to order tracking, returns, complaints and purchase history through a dedicated space on mall.hu.
Seller preparation
A 16 September notice limited selling on allegro.hu to business accounts. Sellers could use existing assortment tools.
The launch notices provided for a temporary exclusion of Hungarian sales ratings and recommendations from seller statistics during the initial weeks. Allegro said it would notify sellers before counting those evaluations.
The 1 October notice also said some features were still being tested and developed.
Integration with sales software
A separate developer notice dated 16 September documented the Hungarian site's integration identifiers:
- The marketplace list already included the identifier allegro-hu.
- Orders from the Hungarian site would identify that marketplace and the HUF currency.
- A Hungarian test environment was available for application developers.
The notice concerned the platform's interface and testing environment, not confirmation that every external application had implemented Hungarian-market support.
Preparing order information
Allegro's 14 August notice had addressed details of Hungarian order information. It flagged very short street names, surname-first personal names and apartment addresses that may include both floor and door numbers. It also distinguished the year-first date format that customers might use in correspondence from the day-first format in Allegro's tools. These were points raised in the company's prelaunch guidance for merchants preparing to handle Hungarian orders.
