Decathlon planned for IKEA Croydon

The proposed sports offering includes hiking, cycling and fitness, with equipment buyback and online-order collection also included in the Croydon announcement.

IKEA plans a Decathlon shop within its store at Croydon with a dedicated entrance, opening in spring 2026.

Proposed sporting offer

The announced sporting range comprised more than 5,000 products. Categories included hiking, camping, running, fitness, swimming and cycling. The plan also included equipment buyback and collection of online orders. The sports shop would occupy 1,188 square metres.

An Austrian refurbishment plan

On January 12, 2026, IKEA Austria had announced a Klagenfurt refurbishment involving home-and-garden retailer Thomas Philipps. Work was planned from spring until autumn. The approximately 15,000-square-metre sales area would be reorganised and the entire exhibition redesigned. The announcement anticipated a temporarily reduced offer during construction, while furniture would remain available from the self-service warehouse. The restaurant would continue operating, and the full IKEA range would remain available to order online.

IKEA said discussions with Klagenfurt and Carinthian representatives had clarified questions concerning land-use zoning. The Klagenfurt store had originally opened its doors in 2008.

The earlier Kalmar announcement

Kjell & Company's release of October 3, 2025 described a 70-square-metre unit at IKEA Kalmar, compared with its usual 200-square-metre format. The planned position was near IKEA's bistro, opposite the checkout exits. The assortment described in that announcement included:

The retailer said staff would provide personal advice on technology. It planned the Kalmar opening for later that autumn. Its existing store model had been adapted to the smaller area and the customer flow inside IKEA.

Group trading context

Reuters reported on February 24 that Ingka's previous annual sales were its lowest since 2021. Global store visits nevertheless increased by 1.3% over the previous year.
