Rusal reports an adjusted net profit of $196 million for the six months ended 30 June 2026, compared with an adjusted loss of $194 million a year earlier. Revenue increased by 10.9% to $8.338 billion, while cost of sales rose by 3.3% to $6.310 billion.

Production and investment

Primary aluminium production reached 2.010 million tonnes, up 4.5%. Capital expenditure declined to $652 million from $707 million, with spending directed primarily towards maintaining existing facilities amid limited access to long-term financing.

Production technology programme

Alongside financial reporting, the company has disclosed changes in production control. On 6 April, Rusal announced industrial operation of a neural-network system at the decomposition unit of its Kamensk-Uralsky alumina refinery. The system combines a digital twin trained on 15 years of historical data with an optimisation algorithm.

It uses observations from the preceding 120 days to forecast the particle composition of aluminium hydroxide over the following 90 days. Recommendations help process engineers adjust operating parameters. This is advisory control supporting staff decisions, rather than a replacement for the engineers responsible for production.

An additional product announcement in August

On 3 August, Rusal announced the development and patenting of AP5M, an aluminium alloy for electrochemical corrosion protection of submerged ship hulls and port infrastructure. The company describes resistance to passivation and a higher current capacity, allowing longer service at the same weight or less metal for the required protection.

Its Volgograd Aluminium Smelter has produced protector products since 2020. That date refers to the plant's product activity, not the introduction of the new alloy. These operational announcements do not quantify their contribution to the interim financial result.
