Tinkoff introduced a terminal QR code offering a choice of payment methods in May 2024.
Announced payment options
- Scanning opens a payment page in the phone's browser.
- Tinkoff Pay completes payment in Tinkoff's application.

The announcement covered iOS and Android. SberPay, other banks' payment services and Dolyame were planned additions, not initial options. Deployment across all Tinkoff payment terminals was scheduled during 2024.
The bank's position on a shared code
RBC reported that Tinkoff supported a unified QR code but wanted a banking association, rather than the Faster Payments System's operator, to establish its rules. The bank presented this as a way to give participants equal standing. It described the acquiring terminal as the necessary equipment, avoiding major additional work for issuing banks.
The proposal entered an existing discussion: the central bank had begun considering unification in autumn 2023. Sberbank advocated retaining multiple payment routes within one code. Its code already offered partner-bank applications, whereas the Faster Payments System remained the operator for payments through its own code.
From online checkout to retail terminals
The earlier Tinkoff Pay launch, on 23 May 2022, focused initially on online payments for the bank's customers. Its announcement identified more than 30,000 partner online shops and support for purchases from either smartphones or computers. Customers with the latest banking application needed no additional connection procedure.
For computer purchases, the original service already used a QR code to reach confirmation in the banking application. The 2022 release also described choosing between accounts with sufficient funds. That earlier online-checkout arrangement preceded the new terminal-based selection of payment services.
