Russian Post's 2 February 2026 announcement describes parcel sending by the recipient's phone number. Online senders enter it in international format; branch customers give it to an employee.
Recipient conditions
- The recipient registers and consents to the service.
- A simple electronic signature enables immediate connection; it can also be obtained through Gosuslugi.
- The tracking number appears automatically. Collection is at the post office associated with the profile address.
Activation and the phone-number option are free; normal delivery charges remain payable.
An existing service, not a first launch
The mobile-app function predates this announcement. On 24 March 2020, the company's press service told TASS that senders could enter a recipient's number or select it from their phonebook instead of supplying a name and address. The recipient had to enter an address and enable the option in the application.
That earlier statement said senders would see the destination city and postcode, without the recipient's surname or address. It presented remote access to postal services in the context of the epidemiological situation. The February 2026 message therefore should not be read as the first appearance of phone-based parcel addressing.
Previously documented handover procedure
A regional company release published on 21 September 2021 described the remaining steps after automatic completion of recipient details: enter the parcel's weight, pay in the application and bring the parcel to a post office. The sender marked the tracking number on the package; the employee printed and attached the label. The release described handover without queuing for these prepared shipments.
Its recipient instructions required an address in the profile and activation of the phone-number option. These are documented earlier arrangements, not evidence of a new counter procedure introduced in February 2026.
